National School Breakfast Week 3/2-3/6

The first week of March is National School Breakfast Week. In honor of this week, we want to encourage students to eat breakfast at school. According to the NEA Health Information Network, "studies of school breakfast programs have found that students who eat breakfast at school show improved academic achievement -- especially in vocabulary, math and standardized tests -- have better attendance records, are less likely to be tardy and exhibit fewer behavioral and psychological problems. Children who regularly eat breakfast also have a better quality of nutrient intake and are less likely to be overweight or obese." So make breakfast time your favorite time and make time for school breakfast!

Student Pick up

Dear Parents,

Reminder: After 2:45PM students are NOT allowed to be picked up in the front office. You MUST go into the student pick up line for regular 3:15PM dismissal. Thank you.

Accountability Ratings–HSS-High Met Standards

Texas Education Agency has recently announced the Accountability Ratings for Texas Public Schools and Districts for 2013-2014.

Under the new state accountability system, campuses in Texas that achieve the rating of Met Standard were also able to earn distinction designations in seven areas.

And HSS High met standard and earned six out of six eligible distinctions. There were only 26 districts in the state of Texas that received a distinction designation for postsecondary readiness and HSS Houston was one of them!

Congratulations to all students and teachers for their efforts and thank you parents for your continuous support!
