Dear Harmony Parents,

We will be having early dismissal on Friday, December 19th at 1:00pm. Students must be picked up at this time unless they are enrolled in Zenith and will be under their direct supervision. There will be no clubs or activities on this day, so please make arrangements for your child to be picked up promptly at this time. Gates will be open at 12:30pm.

We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 6th 2015.

We were honored to have Representative Douglas S. from Harvard University on Wednesday December 10th at HSS-High.

At 11:00 am sharp the meeting convened in the Multi-Purpose Room, It was a huge assembly: there were 120 students seated in, but everyone’s attention was riveted on the man at the stage, the bright brochures he handed out read “Harvard University,” and for the students, that cancelled out everything else. He explained the Harvard application process to students and answered questions.

Students and staff will be on Winter break from December 20, 2014 – January 5, 2015. Classes
resume on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Happy Holidays!

The Harmony community has grown exponentially! From the original 200 students at the Braeswood campus in 2000, we now boast an impressive 28,000 students in 43 campuses across Texas!

The primary source of revenue for Harmony Public Schools comes from the daily-attendance-based State Fund offered to all public schools in Texas. However our campuses still need your support.

TAGE GeoWeek 2014 Poster Contest

Congratulations to all the Harmony School of Science-High students who participated in the Texas Alliance for Geographic Education (TAGE) Geography Awareness Week Poster Contest. Eight grader Ivy Le was chosen as a finalist in the middle school category for her great work and effort. Nadia Sorathia, a ninth grader, was selected for the high school category and place second overall in the state wide competition. She was honored at an award ceremony at the state capitol building in Austin on November 17, 2014, which kicked off the celebrations for GeoWeek 2014.

Established by presidential proclamation more than 25 years ago, GeoWeek is a public awareness program that encourages citizens to be mindful of the significance of geography and the implications of how we affect and are affected by it. Celebrated annually during the third week of November, this year’s theme “Geography of Food” urged students to explore the ways we are linked through food, and how what we consume connects us to many different places, people, and cultures. Students at HSS-High researched ideas and topics and responded with imagery and creativity. All contestants deserve to be commended for responding to the challenging subject with considerable insight and originality.

HSS-High Partners with DePelchin Children’s Center
