PSAT Testing Wednesday October 14th

October 14th is college testing day at HSS-High. Eighth and ninth grade students will take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude (PSAT) 8/9. Tenth and eleventh graders will take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/ (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) PSAT is the first in the College Board’s sequence of college readiness tests. Students will take the tests during the school day at no personal cost.

The PSAT/NMSQT provides tenth and eleventh graders firsthand practice for the SAT and gives them a chance to enter scholarship programs.

Both tests give students direct feedback about strengths and areas for improvement. Both also give students a sense of how their performance compares with that of others. By taking both tests, students become familiar with the kinds of question and the exact directions they will encounter on the SAT. Both assessments are aligned with the Common Core.

Students should get plenty of rest the night before testing and have a good breakfast the day of the test. Please have your child bring a #2 pencil and calculator (not required but students are able to use on portions of the test). Students can not use electronic devices as a calculator.

For more information please visit collegeboard.org.

Dismissal Pick-Up Time

Dear Parents,

This is a friendly reminder that school is released at 3:30pm this year, so please make arrangements to ensure your child gets picked up at that time each day. For an emergency situation that may prevent you from picking your child up on time, please communicate with the front office at 281-302-6445.

Your child's safety is always our number one priority. Any student that is not picked up when the car dismissal line disappears, or by 4:00pm, will be escorted to the West Cafeteria, where they will be provided with temporary supervision, in which a fee may be charged. Parents of late pick-ups will need to drive around to the rear of the campus and park by the cafeteria and come sign their child out. Please note that we can only release students to authorized people that have been indicated on the student pick-up form that is in your child's file.

If any students are still not picked up by 5:00pm, their names will be recorded again and taken outside to the front of the building. We are unable to provide any supervision after this time and can not be responsible for them.

Parents that have conflicting work schedules or frequently experience difficulty getting their child picked up on time, are encouraged to enroll in the Zenith after-care program. More information about Zenith can be obtained by contacting admin@zenithlearning.com.

We really enjoy having your students here at HSS High and appreciate your cooperation.

Our lunch application process has moved online! Please click on the link below to apply for free or reduced meals. If you need assistance or have questions, please contact your school's lunch clerk.
